Message from the President of Kasetsart University

Dear Participants in the PACCON Conference 2024,

On behalf of Kasetsart University, I would like to invite you to the Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference 2024. The conference will be held 26–27 January 2024 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (Bitec Bangna), Bangkok. The theme of the conference is “Chemistry for Bio-Circular-Green Economy.”

Kasetsart University is the largest university in Thailand. As part of the university’s mission, we seek to build a new generation of students with a passion for learning, researching, and creating innovation that has a global impact. KU promotes advanced research in diverse fields of study and offers more than 50 international degrees to undergraduate and graduate students.
Our university is particularly well-known for academic excellence focusing on agriculture and forestry—this year, according to the QS World University Rankings, KU is ranked number 1 in Thailand and 53 in the world for agriculture and forestry. Additionally, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings ranked KU number 1 in Thailand and 40 in the world. We are honored to gain this recognition as a green and sustainable university.
Kasetsart University was founded in 1943 and on the 2nd of February 2023 we celebrated our 80 th Anniversary. We are pleased to organize the PACCON conference as a continuation of this special occasion.
The Department of Chemistry at Kasetsart University is one of the best chemistry departments in Thailand. It has three centers of excellence: Center of Nanotechnology, Center of Excellence for Innovation in Chemistry, and Center of Excellence-Palm Oil.
The research undertaken by these Centers focuses on agricultural productivity, food safety, environmental analysis and monitoring, natural products and drug discovery, natural rubber and biodegradable polymer, renewable energy, and nanomaterials. Each of the areas of research follows Thailand’s BCG models, which target four industries: agriculture and food, wellness and medicine, materials and biochemicals, and tourism and creative economy.
PACCON 2024 will be an excellent opportunity for researchers to share their expertise and to explore new ideas, discoveries, and innovations in chemistry and related fields, especially those related to the BCG model. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet old friends and make new friends who share common interests. I am confident that the conference and interaction between participants will lead to strong collaboration initiatives far into the future.
I wish you all the best and look forward to seeing you at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (Bitec Bangna) for the PACCON Conference, Chemistry for Bio-Circular-Green Economy, 26–27 January 2024.
